Police Raid Tudu

One hundred and ninety-five suspected criminals have been arrested, in a combined operation by officials of Narcotic Control Board (NACOB) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, in Tudu, Accra.

The 195 suspects including a woman would be screened and those found culpable would be charged accordingly.

The Director General of CID, DCOP Prosper Agblor, said the exercise was to weed the Tudu area of drug peddlers and other criminals to ensure a peaceful Easter festivity.

He stressed that the operation was not a nine-day-wonder, adding that it would be sustained.

The police boss further cautioned criminals to turn a new leaf in order to stay out of police grips or risk arrest and prosecution.

“A note of caution is being sounded to all drug peddlers, cultivators and traffickers to put an end to their activities else the security services will always pursue them.”

The operation, according to DCOP Agblor, was a national exercise and was supposed to be replicated throughout the regions as well.

Mr. Agblor maintained that the anti-narcotic fight was not the duty of police alone but a shared responsibility and called on the general public, especially faith-based organizations, to help curb the menace which he said was fast becoming a canker eating into the fibre of the youth.

The Executive Secretary of NACOB, Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong, expressed gratitude to the role of the media in awareness creations and their contribution in clamping down on criminals.

He urged the media to continue to assist the security services with pertinent information that might lead to the arrest of such unscrupulous persons in the society.

He assured the public that the security services would never give out their sources, stressing that their sources were strictly confidential.

Items such as dried leaves, powdery substances suspected to be cocaine and some offensive implements were seized and are being kept at the CID Headquarters as exhibits.
